1. The Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances of the UN Human Rights Council will hold with the support of the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Korea its 111th regular session in Seoul from February 6 to 10.
° The session will consists of reviews of personal petitions received by the Working Group from across the world; meetings with families of those who have gone missing involuntarily as well as with relevant civic groups; and a press conference.
2. In conjunction with the session, the ROK Foreign Ministry and the Working Group will co-host an academic seminar on “transitional justice and enforced or involuntary disappearance” on February 7 for in-depth discussions on the North Korean defector issue and enforced or involuntary disappearances in North Korea as well as accountability for human rights violations in the North.
3. The ROK government will continue working closely with the Working Group and other human rights mechanisms of the UN in a bid to improve the poor human rights situation in North Korea and to protect and promote human rights across the world.
