1. The Foreign Ministry will host the sixth High-Level Forum on the Korea-Caribbean Partnership on October 26 and discuss with Caribbean countries ways to work together in addressing climate change and promoting food security.

2. Climate change and food security are global issues included in the UN’s sustainable development goals. The Republic of Korea, by leading the launch of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and hosting the Green Climate Fund (GCF), has been spearheading international efforts to respond to climate change. The country, by sharing with other countries its state-of-the-art agricultural technology and techniques, is also contributing to efforts to resolve the global food issue.

3. The forum is expected to help the ROK strengthen the foundation of mutually beneficial cooperation with the Caribbean, which is emerging as the ROK’s cooperative partner on the international stage; help seek solutions to the issues of climate change and food security; and thereby help Koreans build presence in the region.
