1. The Center for International Law at the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS) of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA), together with the Korea Constitutional Institute and the Korean Society of International Law, will co-hold at the KNDA on August 26 an academic conference on “intersecting issues between international law and the constitution of the Republic of Korea and ways to strike harmony between them.”
2. With the emergence of cross-border issues making the distinction between domestic and international issues increasingly unclear, the forthcoming academic conference will cover the National Assembly’s approval of treaties and their legal status; human rights in terms of domestic law and international law; a legal analysis and assessment of solutions to issues related to colonial rule.
3. The upcoming academic conference is expected to serve as an opportunity to analyze in depth intersecting issues between international law and the ROK’s constitution and to seek alternative ways for the ROK to resolve issues concerning international law and its constitution.
