1. Twenty-eight Youth Ambassadors from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will visit the Republic of Korea from August 1 through 21 to participate in the UAE Youth Ambassadors Program. The delegation will be dispatched by the Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi, the UAE’s largest Emirate.

◦ During their visit to the ROK, the Youth Ambassadors will study Korean; visit government agencies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice as well as leading Korean companies; make tours of museums, the demilitarized zone (DMZ) and the War Memorial of Korea; and have hands-on historical and cultural experiences, such as royal court food cooking. They will also be offered lectures on the ROK’s economic growth and its relations with the UAE.

2. The ROK Foreign Ministry, by supporting the UAE Youth Ambassadors Program, has raised the interest and understanding of the UAE’s next-generation leaders on the ROK and thereby played a role in paving the way for close future cooperation between the two countries.

◦ In particular, the Youth Ambassadors will visit the Kori Nuclear Power Plant, Korea National Oil Corporation and medical facilities to see for themselves the progress in substantive cooperation between the ROK and the UAE.

3. The UAE Youth Ambassadors Program, which marks its third anniversary this year, is implemented by the Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi to educate the country’s youth to become next-generation leaders and regional experts in preparation for the post-oil era. The UAE, in particular, dispatches the program participants to the ROK every year to benchmark the ROK in setting up its strategies for future development.

◦ The program participants are selected by the Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi through an open recruitment process. The participants in this year’s program are 28 students of five colleges in the UAE.
