1. The Foreign Ministry will hold cultural events in Doha, Qatar and in Muscat, Oman from April 15 to 21 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the ROK’s diplomatic relations with Qatar and Oman.

2. The cultural events will introduce various flavors and charms of Korea by presenting: performances of traditional Korean dance and music, including Pungmul (farmers’ music), Talchum (mask dance) and Pansori (musical storytelling); fusion music which combines traditional Korean melodies with modern sounds; and b-boy performances with messages to introduce Korea. Furthermore, at the cultural event in Qatar on April 17, Qatari traditional folk music team “The Pearl Group,” along with Korean performance groups, will also showcase traditional Qatari dance and music, making the event more meaningful and enriched.

3. The upcoming cultural events are expected to help further promote the image of charming Korea by introducing to the people in Qatar and Oman Korean culture where tradition harmonizes with modernity. The Foreign Ministry will continue to hold a range of cultural events, with an aim to further expand cultural consensus with countries with which the ROK has diplomatic relations and to share cultural sentiment with the peoples of the countries.
