1. The Government of the Republic of Korea has appointed Mr. Kim Sang-woo, President of the International
Cultural Exchange Association, as Ambassador for International Security Affairs on June 25, 2001.
Ambassador Kim will be appointed according to the "Act on the Appointment and Powers of Government
Delegates and Special Envoys".
2. During his 1-year term of office between July 2001 to June 2001, he will fulfill his role of promoting the ROK
government's international security policies both domestically and internationally, and participating in various
international meetings on international security. The appointment of Ambassador for International Security
Affairs is aimed at actively contributing to the maintenance and development of international disarmament
and non-proliferation regime, while uplifting the ROK's status in the internatinal community by promoting the
ROK government's efforts to enhance regional security cooperation.
3. Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade will continue to allow professionals in the civic area to participate in
the government's diplomatic activities, and thereby endeavor to further uplift the ROK's status in the
international community by enhancing cooperation with the civic field to strengthen the foundation for
international support for the ROK's foreign policies.
